Does the 2014 Toyota Yaris have a timing belt or chain?

The 2014 Toyota Yaris comes equipped with a timing chain instead of a timing belt. The Yaris has been using a chain froM2007 all the way through the current year. One of the main reasons why it might be using the chain is because it doesn't require as much maintenance as the belt. The chain should last for the life of the vehicle and the belt needs to be replaced every so often. The chain is on the inside of the engine and isn't exposed to things like the belt which is on the outside of the engine. You should inspect the chain every 150,000 miles or so because even though it is meant to last for the life of the vehicle, things can end up going wrong. To check it You just look at the tension.
