The 2016 Dodge Durango all wheel drive system does have a low range option. There are two types of all wheel drive that are used, high range and low range. High range all wheel drive is used in daily situations. This is a higher gear set in the transfer case and allows You to go at highway speeds while driving. It also keeps the torque and horsepower the same from the engine. There is also a low range all wheel drive and this is used in rougher situations. Commonly this will be used off road, or in deep snow. This is designed to go at much slower speeds, and it uses reducing gears to send more torque to the wheels. This can help You get out of situations where other vehicles would normally get stuck.
