Does the 2016 Subaru Forester have a timing belt or chain?

The 2016 Subaru Forester is equipped with a timing chain rather than a timing belt. For years Subaru favored a belt in these models but that changed in about 2012 when the switch to chains was made and it has stayed that way ever since. The chain and belt perform the same function but the good thing about the chain is that it's much sturdier and You're not required to perform the same maintenance on it that You would with a belt.
