The 2016 Toyota RAV4 does come standard with a homelink garage door opener that is part of the rear view mirror assembly. With this system You can progRam Your SUV to open garage doors, automatic gates, and even control lights using an adapter. ProgRamming the homelink system is pretty easy to do as well. You will need to have Your original garage remote to be able to set it up. First You will need to turn the car on, then press and hold the button You want to progRam. While You hold that You should press and hold the button on the remote and hold it one to three inches from the mirror. As soon as the homelink light blinks slowly the button has been progRammed.

I do not have buttons on my rear view mirror. It is a Toyota Rav4 XLE AWD 2016. No buttons where my dome lights are either.
