The 2017 BMW X3 does have Apple CarPlay. You will come into issues with the sound. The source could be from the stereo's speakers or a phone that is connected to the vehicle. Whatever the source, You will have to have these issues solved quickly. If the problems are from the stereo's speakers, it could be static sounds, randomly turns off, a loose wire, or a blown fuse. If the problems are coming from the phone, it could be that the software won't update, the device will not sync with the vehicle, the phone's battery is almost dead, or an object is blocking the signal.

To obtain Apple CarPlay in the BMW X3, the consumer has to purchase it as a stand-alone option. This adds $300 to the original price. If you are purchasing it used, be aware of the increase in price and make sure the options that are advertised are the ones that are provided. Not all BMW X3s have Apple CarPlay.
