If You're experiencing locking issues with Your 2017 Ford Explorer it could need repair to the lock actuator, or a new battery for Your key fob.As You might imagine, a door lock actuator plays a vital role in Your ability to lock and unlock the doors to Your vehicle. If a door lock actuator ever goes bad, it could make it difficult, if not impossible, to lock and unlock a car door. With that being said if Your lock actuator ever does need to be replaced the repair is reasonably priced. The average cost for door lock actuator replacement is between $280 and $330. Labor costs are estimated between $90 and $110 while parts are priced between $200 and $220.

Have a 2017 Explorer both front door locks don’t work. Crazy that this happens to so many people and it’s cost a fortune to get it fixed.

This vehicle is a nightmare!! Don’t buy one!! We have had it back to the dealership, over twenty times!! Ford extended the warranty, but they should do a buy back!! I’m going to start posting every time I take it. So you will hear from me, often!! DONT BUY!!

Similar issue…. Front passenger door does not lock/unlock at all. With key fob… door lock/unlock button from either front door. Only way to “unlock” the door is to actually open the door OR try to pull up on the actual button that pops up/down. Drivers door and both back doors lock/unlock just fine. There isn’t even a noise coming from the passenger door when the buttons are pushed.

I’m having issues with the passenger side of my Explorer as well. All other locks unlock except the passeger door. Sounds like they need to do a recall on this as well if so many are having issues.

I’ve had constant issues with the driver door. Sometimes it works, sometimes it won’t. Ford won’t fix it unless it’s consistent.

Everyone please go to the link below and file an official complaint. It super easy. If they get enough complaints then they will be forced to issue a recall on the locks! Https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#vehicle/form-submit

Hope this helps someone, 2017 Explorer Sport. My drivers side lock would no longer respond to my hand on the handle and know the sensor in the handle is good as i swapped it with the passenger side. My issue ended up being water in the C3138 connector thats just behind the rubber umbilical between the door and the frame. It corroded the connector up and burnt through pin 17 that supplies power to the door handle sensor. I had to clean the connector and solder in a jumper for pin 17, green or green-violet wire and it fixed it. Poor design by Ford as the connector has no grease in it.

3 of the 4 door lock actuators need to be replaced. If Ford doesn’t fix it, I’ll never buy another Ford

Same issue it’s random on all doors. One you can’t pull it up by hand either. Two years old, some bs.

2017 Ford Explorer. Replaced Car battery ($150) as it was "throwing codes" helped for 1 day. Replaced actuator ($420). Lock still chooses when to work. Goes out every 2 weeks randomly on the weekend now. Going back to Ford for a 3rd time tomorrow. I have spent too much at this point to still have any issues.

Same issue. Rear passenger door lock wouldn't work. Got it fixed. Luckily I found out I have an extended warranty so it only costs $100 when he said it would normally cost over $400. Within another week the driver side door started malfunctioning. Then that corrected itself BUT THEN the front passenger door stopped working properly. Right now it's in the shop and the front passenger door is fixed and they are trying to get the passenger door to fail so they can fix that one. Ridiculous!

Front passenger lock wouldn’t work. Dealer charged me $600+ for the repair including the diagnostic charge. Now both rear door locks are giving me problems.

My passenger rear door is stuck in the middle and won’t go down or up. I can here it try to move so wonder if the rod is stuck. I can’t get the door open to take the door panel off so I’m stuck at this point.

It would appear they do. I've replaced the passenger front and driver rear in the four years we've had the vehicle.

If you're experiencing locking issues with your 2017 ford explorer it could need repair to the lock actuator, or a new battery for your key fob.
