The 2018 Toyota Corolla comes equipped with a timing chain and it has used the chain since 1998, before that it used to use the timing belt. Since it uses a timing chain it usually doesn't need to be replaced and should last for the life of the vehicle. It should last for the life of the vehicle because it is inside the engine and isn't exposed like the belt which is on the outside of the vehicle. Normally You would replace the belt every 60,000 miles to every 100,000 miles but since the Corolla uses a chain You should only have to inspect it every 150,000 miles or so. If for some reason the chain needs to be replaced a new one costs between $50 and $140.

The 2018 Toyota Corolla comes with a timing chain and not a timing belt. This is to ensure that you don't have to replace the belt as a timing chain is meant to last for the life of your vehicles engine.
