The 2018 Toyota Prius does not come standard with a spare tire at all. Instead of a spare tire it comes with a tire repair kit that is in the back. This will have some tire sealant in it that can patch small holes as well as a 12v powered compressor for filling tires on the side of the road. If You want to get a spare tire You can always purchase a compact or full spare. Unfortunately there is no where to store a spare tire under the car so that means You will lose cargo space if You want to keep one in the back of the Prius.

Except when you get a slash in your tire on a country road in the mountains, and the useless slime in the bottle doesn't do a thing. Sure wish I had a spare then!

More manufacturers are trying to save manufacturing costs, though the "official" reason is to save weight. If you do get a vehicle without a spare (either full or space-saver) make sure you have towing insurance, a phone, and time to weight for a tow, as most tire damage cannot be readily fixed with the little kits they provide. Also, if you happen to fix it, the tire pressure monitor sensors are ruined and must be expensively replaced. For many people, a vehicle without a spare is a dealbreaker, but remember that tires today are much better than years ago so the chances of even having tire damage is less than in the past.

There is no spare tire in the 2018 Toyota Prius. Like most major car manufacturers, Toyota has replaced the traditional spare with a tire repair or mobility kit. These tire kits include sealant - like you'd buy in an aerosol can over the counter and a small air compressor to reinflate the tire once it's sealed. While it's great not to wrestle with lug nuts on the side of the road - the sealant's effectiveness is limited to small puncture and only on the tread area.
