The 2018 Toyota Tacoma does not have a CVT transmission. Instead, You're given a choice of an automatic transmission, or in the case of the V6 4X4Configuration of the '18 Tacoma, a manual transmission. This is likely a good thing, as many DIYers find that CVT transmissions are a pain in the rear end to work on Yourself. Despite Toyota's increased use of CVT transmissions in recent years, the Tacoma has never been one to follow this trend. You can find CVTs in vehicles like the RAV4, the Corolla, the Camry, the C-HR, the Yaris, and the iQ, but never the Tacoma. Perhaps because it's Toyota's workhorse truck, they want to keep it paired with the stronger and more reliable transmission.

The 2018 Toyota Tacoma does not have CVT, Continuously Variable Transmission. Each of the engines can be teamed to a six-speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i), or the V6 can also be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission
