The BMW 4 Series does have all-wheel drive as an available option in the 430iAnd 440iModels, but does not come standard. They refer to it as xDrive, rather than the traditional phrasing. If considering whether to get xDrive or not, fuel economy might come into play for some people. It is a full-time system, rather than a part-time system, which means its going to add weight to the car and constantly push power to all 4 wheels. In the end, this means its less fuel-efficient. However, depending on Your environment and preferred driving style, it may be a good investment. If You live somewhere that gets a lot of snow, or has rougher terrain, its probably best to opt for xDrive.

The 2018 BMW 430i has a 2.0 liter engine and can come in a convertible body style or a coupe. Both are rear wheel drive. The larger engine BMW 440i has a 3.0 liter engine and comes in rear wheel drive in both its convertible and coupe models. Within the 4 series, BMW also has xDrive for convertible and coupe models. The 430i xDrive and the 440i xDrive are all wheel drive.
