The BMW X5 comes with either all wheel drive or rear wheel drive depending on the model. Any model that is listed as xDrive has the all wheel drive system on it. Any model that is listed as sDrive has rear wheel drive only. The BMW X5 was first launched with all wheel drive to help it get through snow and dirt roads. As more people began driving them only on asphalt they introduced a rear wheel drive version that is less expensive because it does not have the all wheel drive transfer case and components. Whether You go for rear wheel or all wheel drive the X5 is a great SUV that has won many awards over the years for being an engaging SUV to drive.
