All Escalade models come equipped with rear-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive being an optional upgrade. All of the models, by default, pack A6.2L V8 engine, which generates up to 420 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque. The models include the base model, as well as luxury, platinum and premium luxury models. If the vehicle does, in fact, have 4wd capabilities, the trim will usually have a sticker specifying so. 4-wheel drive means that there is a much greater degree of control, making it the best choice for off-roading and driving in challenging terrain. Essentially, the engine powers all of the wheels equally, offering more balance and stability.

The 2018 Cadillac Escalade has a 6.2 liter engine in all of its four trims. The Escalade Base, Luxury, Platinum and Premium Luxury, can either come with a rear wheel drivetrain or a four wheel drivetrain. The trim package will have a "4WD" to designate four wheel drive.
