The Ford Explorer does come standard with an auto start stop system for the engine. This is used to turn the vehicle on and off whenever You are stopped. Most brands on the market have implemented a start stop system into their cars because it can help save on fuel. A lot of gasoline gets wasted when You are sitting in traffic or at red lights, and turning off the motor is a good way to help prevent this from happening. The start stop feature is also able to help reduce the overall pollution from Your car since it will not have any exhaust gasses while it sits around at a stop light.

"auto start-stop" is a function of ford explorers equipped with ecoboost engines. The purpose of this feature is fuel-efficiency and reduced emissions, achieved by automatic engine shutdown and restart, which limits engine idling.
