The Ford Focus does not have more immobilizer problems than any other vehicle, but there have been times where the alarm system has failed in them. When this happens it will lock the vehicle's engine and not let it turn over to help prevent theft. If Your vehicle's immobilizer is stuck on then You may need to reset the anti-theft system to get it to work properly again. This can be done by using the key that came with Your car and turning the vehicle to the on position and waiting for the antitheft light to turn off and then repeating it and starting the car. If You have a lot of problems with the alarm in Your Focus You should take it to a Ford dealership to let them inspect the computer and replace it if needed.

If your ford focus does not recognize your key the immobiliser light will flash and the car won't start. Try turning the key to the second position 4 times and then initialize the start mode to reset the immobiliser.

I'm currently having this problem. I find that when it rains heavy my 2008 Focus cc2 want start even though I have power the imobaliser light is flashing, when I turn the key to 2nd position I get an "Engine Malfunction" message. I left it for a few days last time and it has started since but heavy rain last night has coursed the problem again.

It could be two things, cluster or it’s a fuse, it’s usually the fuse box next to the engine but to be sure just call AA and they will check to confirm.
