Most of the newer Ford vehicles come standard with a timing chain on the engine. A lot of the older Ford motors come with a belt on them, especially the smaller four and SRX cylinder models. Most vehicles that were made in the late 1990s and early 2000s have timing belts on them. In general most Ford vehicles that are made after 2007 have a chain on the engine. In my opinion a chain is an improvement over a belt because it is less likely to break and does not need to be serviced. A belt usually needs to be changed every 60,000 to 100,000 miles and a chain should be able to last over 300,000 miles without servicing.

Chain. If you have a 3.5 l2010 edge,I believe you have 3 chains, and water pump is built into such.if you need chain,it's recommended you replace water pump.
