The Ford Transit has had a few different complaints regarding the transmission over the years. The transmission should stay in great shape for several years with regular maintenance and fluid changes, but sometimes parts do become faulty. There are several indicators that something is wrong with Your transmission. You may experience delays while trying to shift gears. You may begin to hear a grinding noise, or vibrations from the engine area. The vehicle may begin to shake suddenly while You're driving. You also might notice things like burning smells, or whistling noises from the hood area. If the transmission has failed, it will need to be replaced. You will need to pay between $574 and $3372 for a replacement.

We manage a fleet of 15 Transit Connects. 5 in the past 2 years have needed full Transmission replacements. Cost is averaging $4000-$5800 for the transmission alone and ~ $1800 in labor. These are part of a "Fleet Program so warranties don't exist. All under 100K miles. Stay clear!!!

I can attest to the problematic transmissions In the 2020 FORD Transit High-Topvans. 5 employees of my company received new vans in March. I just got my van back from the dealership, I received a new warranty transmission. Keep in mind, the vehicle only had 9700 miles at failure. I am the third person out of the 5 to get anew transmission..

The ford transit transmission problems are transmission failure, not shifting properly, and oss sensor sending intermittent signal.

JUNK. Besides the fact that the T150-250 are too sluggish and underpowered to get out of their own way... Tbe 10-speed transmission has such bad control that it never correctly picks what gear to use, and often rapidly cycles between gears causing it to buck and jump... It also becomes unresponsive when you try to accelerate while it's gear hunting. They should have left these lemons in Europe.

I have a 2019 350HD, 38K, the tranny started chucking fluid out of the breather. Autonation Ford sells me a new Radiator, Tranny cooler and flush(just out of warranty: cost $1750.00) Tells me Ford in those years used some Red coolant that supposedly clogs both units. Um ok, sounded like B.S.. Paid them the money with their guarantee that was the problem. HMM ok..Very next trip GA to NY(900miles) . Tranny blows fluid out and back doors of my van are covered in Trans Fluid 400 miles into trip. Get to NY, no Ford dealer wants to look at it, apparently too busy. OK. On drive back to GA 500 miles in,Tranny service light on and fluid covers back doors. 10 seconds , light turns off. What a comfort....Back to Autonation, 2weeks in nothing, "We are so backed UP, might get to it in a month"" Really go drink some Prune juice, and give me back my van. Let's see what happens at new dealer with Ford Protect behind me....

My ford transit 3500 starting making a jump sound at 25mph. 49,000 miles and needs a whole new transmission. I feel like part of the problem was the drive shaft that they recalled. Oh and forget trying to get it serviced in los angeles a month is needed to do the service. Gotta love ford service, the most inept customer service, taking the car/truck in for service is like goint to DMV. Same attitude and total lack of customer care. This is my 5th ford but not worth it if they can't provide minimal service in the repair depts and im talking about everyone in los angeles, Sunrise, Gaplin, Star Ford. Shame on you!

I have a ford transit 350 transmission went out at 49k miles, of the 4 dealerships in los angeles. The entire city of los angeles and you cant find an authorized dealer to repair the transmission, none had time. I heard from one we are not taking appointments, another said i would need to leave it a month before we can look at it. I was a avid ford fan before but if you can't get it serviced because the transmission are so bad....why would i ever buy another FORD.

I’ve got a 2018 T250 that will be needing its third transmission/overhaul. The first time was a rebuild, second was an internal cooler that failed, this time, 200 miles from home complete failure. None of the shops in the area can LOOK at it for 2-3 weeks, and a tow home will be $1500. Side note, while calling around looking for a shop near the breakdown, when I asked to talk to the service department the first question was “is this transmission related?”
