Older models of the Mazda CX5 will not come equipped with a block heater. If You have a model made froM2017 and onward then it will come with one and this will be true for all of the trim levels. The block heater is meant to warm the coolant within Your engine and also the oil. This is meant to help increase the life span and performance of Your engine. If You live in a cold weather environment You're going to see a great deal of increased performance when using a vehicle that has one of these equipped.

2020 CX-5 does not come with a block heater. My dealer told me that the genius engineers at Mazda decided that with synthetic motor oil and their superb engine design, a block heater is not necessary. Obviously they haven't had to endure Canadian winters that freeze car batteries and make flat spots on tires. Bad idea Mazda.

Wrong. Older Mazdas do come equipped with a factory installed engine block heater. In 2018 and since, they do not. The geniuses at Mazda insist that with their superior design, and quality synthetic engine oil, nobody in Canada will need the help of block heaters anymore.

I had a block heater installed on 2020 cx5 signature from the dealer when I purchased the vehicle however I need to unplug it a hour before I start it otherwise it throws a "check engine light "code in the dash because the dealer didn't set the parameters to the cars computer system so what is happening is the car thinks its over heating ( coolant ) ,but it isn't. The dealerships here in Canada 🇨🇦 can install a block heater just make sure they set parameters or it will cost you money to clear the code or you can like me buy your own obd2 scanner and clear them yourself save yourself some money.Jmho from experience.
