Any Nissan Sentra that is made in the last thirty years or so is going to come with a timing chain. I don't think Nissan has put a timing belt in the Sentra since the last 1980's. Since You are likely to have a chain that means that You're not going to have to deal with the maintenance that You would have with a timing belt. It's common for it to last for as long as Your engine does as opposed to belts that dry out and break at a certain point. While the chain is a bit more expensive to manufacture and repair, it has the benefit of being a long lasting part that shouldn't wear down on You for many years. -

I just bought a 2022 Sentra SV. It's my 4th Sentra since1990. The previous 3 had chains and I believe this new one has a chain too. Another reason why I bought another Nissan. My last Sentra, a 2011 had 200k miles on it and the chain never gave me a moment of trouble.

It has a chain I am understanding, versus a belt which, I understand also is a good idea to swap water 💦 pumps at the same time (or vis-a-versa?)
