The Volvo XC60 T6 has a timing belt that should be serviced every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. The belt is virtually unbreakable, however the idler rollers and the tension are rollers go bad all the time. If these rollers fail it will cause the belt to derail and come off the pullies and then start bending valves and breaking things. Timing belt failure on the XC60 can be the end of the life of the engine or possibly the end of the life of the whole car. When servicing the timing belt, service the water pump as well, because it is driven by the belt. You will need a set of special timing belt tools from Volvo to properly service it.
