The Toyota 2010 4runner has a timing chain. Chains are made to last much longer than belts, often the duration of the car's life span. That said they can still break, and if they do then the car will overheat almost instantly. If You need to get a new one then You will be paying about 100 dollars for it online, and it will cost You another 100 to get it installed by the mechanic. Be cautious when You buy one online, as some people call both timing belts and timing chains cam belts. If You end up having a timing belt then it will not do You any good and You will be out of Your money.

Toyota uses a timing chain for its 2010 Toyota 4Runner. Normally, these parts are more durable than a timing belt and require less maintenance.
