Changing the door code on a Ford Escape is a pretty easy process once you know how to do it. To do it you will need to first find the factory code that came with the vehicle. This is usually located in the back of the owner's manual on a decal. First you will need to enter the factory code at the keypad. After that you should press the 1 key that is on the door. Immediately after you press one you will need to enter the new five digit door code that you want to use. At the end of that you should press the number 1 and then the doors will lock confirming that it is set.

To change the door code for a ford escape, enter the pre-programmed, permanent (default) 5-digit code on the driver's door keypad, located just below the door handle. Next, input the number 1, then the new door 5-digit code you choose. Finally, re-enter the number 1, then listen for the doors to lock. If no locking sound occurs, repeat the steps. When complete, you can use the new door code as well as the permanent code to lock and unlock your car without a key. Check your owner's manual to verify the permanent door code or look for it on the passenger side fuse box
