If Your Ford Explorer Sport Trac is displaying a message telling You to check the gauges, the computer has registered an issue with a component that can be investigated by checking all Your gauges and finding which one has a reading with an out of normal reading. If You find one that does not have a normal reading I would first check the ground wires. Make sure You have a good connection. Next would be to check the PCM relay fuse as well as other fuses in the vehicle. Auto parts stores such as Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone carry any fuses that You may need for Your car. Changing the fuse is a simple task. You can tell if the fuse has blown by looking at the filaments visible in its little window. Before You open or work on a fuse box, be sure that Your vehicles ignition is turned off.

The first thing to check in a ford explorer sport trac that has the check gauges light on is to check the ground wires. Next would be to check the pcm relay fuse as well as other fuses in the vehicle.
