To install a front license plate on Your Silverado, mount a bracket with the pre-installed bolts found on the truck's front bumper. The truck may be equipped with only two lower bolts. This number is usually sufficient for supporting a front-facing bracket with 4 holes. The assembly requires 1/4" screws with a thread size of 14 X3/4". If for some reason the truck's bumper doesn't feature pre-drilled holes, use a 3/16" bit to drill holes measured out beforehand. Place the bracket against the bumper and mark hole positions before drilling. Aftermarket retailers exist that offer clip on frames that eliminate the need for drilling into Your bumper as well. 31 states require both a front and rear license plate.
