Resetting the computer in a Chevy S-10 is a very easy procedure that may need to be done from time to time. When Your vehicle has any ECU problems the first thing You should do is try to reset it and see if that clears up any potential software bugs. To reset the computer all You need to do is disconnect the battery and touch the positive and negative cables together when they are off the battery for at least 10 minutes. This will drain the electricity out of Your vehicle's electrical system and cause the ECU to lose power. When You reconnect Your battery You may need to reset Your personal settings, but the ECU should be reset and ready to go.

You must switch the ignition on to reset the chevy s10 machine but don't crank the engine. To clear the codes on the machine, press the "erase" button on the scan tool and then run the engine for about 10 minutes to allow the computer to completely reset itself.
