If You need to reset the PATS in Your 2000 Ford Excursion it is a fairly easy thing to do. When it is not working You will notice that Your truck is not able to start up. The first thing You should do is put the key in the ignition and in the on position without starting the motor. Wait until the theft light stops flashing, usually this will take 45 seconds. Turn the key off and remove it from the ignition cylinder for 30 seconds. After that You will need to put the key back in and put it back in the on position with the engine off. The theft like should come on for 5 seconds then turn off. That means the system is reset and You can safely start Your motor.

Turn the ignition on, but do not start the vehicle. Wait for the theft light to stop blinking, after 45 seconds turn the car off and remove the key from the ignition for 30 seconds. Insert the key again and turn the key to the on position. The light should reset itself.
