To reset the 2005 GMC Canyon passlock You will start off by turning the ignition key to the "Run" position after two to three seconds. Leave the key in this position for 10 minutes. Start the engine as soon as the security light stops flashing and remains on. The Passlock system resets and the engine starts normally. The GM manufacturer installs the paslock theft system feature to keep the cars from being stolen. But there have been consumer reports for glitches with trying to start the vehicle and the security (theft sys) light will be illuminated. This problem could also happen when You unhook the battery terminals from the vehicle or the battery dies.

To reset the 2005 gmc canyon passlock put your key in the ignition in the on position, then back to the off position, then to the on position and then wait until the theft sys light stops flashing and then immediately turn the car on.
