You'll need a fuse puller or tweezers to follow along here; if You use Your girlfriend's eyebrow tweezers, remember to wash any grease off before You put them back in the drawer. So, the firSTStep in resetting the 2012 Honda Civic's Engine Control Unit (ECU) is going to be to drive a couple of laps around Your block to bring the engine up to temperature. Then, park Your vehicle (this is important, as it'll be difficult to do this while sitting in the driver's seat and driving) and pop the hood. Open the fuse boxAnd locate the ECU fuse, which should be clearly marked on the outside cover. Using the fuse puller or Your significant other's tweezers, pull the fuse for the ECU. Now, wait 15 minutes or so, and then reinsert the fuse. I'll note that You can also disconnect the battery and wait ten minutes, and then reconnect it, but this only resets the ECU to standby mode, where it will relearn, but this doesn't clear the memory the same way as pulling the fuse does. Now, back to the hard reset: After 15 minutes of waiting, turn the ignition on and let the engine idle for about 20 minutes: DO NOT step on the gas pedal. Just let the vehicle run. Don't operate any accessories or electronics. After the wait time, turn the ignition off and immediately back on. You've now reset the ECU. After this, drive the vehicle as normal. It may take up to a tank of gas for the system to create a new performance memory.

To perform a hard reset or refresh the ecm or computer in your 2012 honda civic vehicle, disconnect the positive battery cable and remove your ecu relay or fuse. Wait two to three minutes and reinsert the fuse and reconnect battery cables and your vehicle's ecu should be reset.
