There are a couple different ways to reset the check engine light on the 2012 Jeep Liberty. The first thing You can do is to just drive the vehicle for a certain amount of time and it might turn off by itself. Another thing You can do is unplug the battery and wait for about 20 minutes and then plug it back in. If those didn't work You will need to use a scanner. Find the port to the right of and underneath the steering column. Plug the scanner in, put the key into the ignition and then turn it to the accessory mode. Turn on the scanner and then select "Erase" on the scanner to turn off the check engine light. Then all You need to do is start the vehicle and it should be reset.

To reset the check engine light, otherwise known as a maintenance reset, on the 2012 jeep liberty you will need to either reset the battery by removing the positive and negative cables, or connect an obd scanner and do it through there.
