The 2008 Ford Escape 2.3 liter 4Cylinder engine's water pump is located under hood in the engine bay on the passenger's side of the vehicle. It is housed toward the front of the bay, below and behind a pulley powering it. Removing the Escape's upper and lower radiator hoses, the center facing battery and the intake assembly will provide repair access to the water pump. Using a special tool, work to unbolt the pulley and its assembly. The water pump is secured with three main bolts to a metal plate behind this pulley. Signs the water pump is failing include overheating, coolant leaks and steam from the radiator. The average cost to replace the Escape's water pump is from $350-$600 in parts and labor.
