To remove the 2009 Toyota Corolla's engine cover, lift the hood and prop it open with a support stalk. The plastic shield is located in the middle of the bay over the engine. It is secured by 4 rubber tipped plugs that hold it to the motor. To remove, carefully lift up the front of the shield and disengage the two supporting plugs on either side. Once freed from the front of the engine, pull up on the two remaining fasteners toward the rear of the cover. They will release simply and the piece can be lifted off the motor without tools or implements. The shield should be equipped with insulation material on the reverse side and the plug tips will be clearly visible.
