The clutch actuator in a 2012 Ford Focus is located in the clutch assembly and is connected to the car's gearbox. The clutch actuator is an electrical component of the clutch that will get information from the TCM telling it to shift the clutch and know what gear it should be in or trigger clutch disengagement via the clutch master cylinder. It is imperative to have the actuator adjusted properly so the transmission will not slip when shifting gears. If the clutch actuator goes bad You will notice slipping and harsh shifting of the gears when driving the car. The cost for the replacement part will range from $50 - $120 depending if You get an OEM or aftermarket product. Takeng it to a mechanic or dealership will cost approximately $300 - $500 including parts and labor.
