To replace the cabin air filter on the 2017 Ford Explorer, You will need to remove the glove box from the cabin area. To remove the glove box, You will need to push the dampener chord to release the box. Push in to release the stops on the back and the box should now be loose. When You move the box out of the way, You will see the black casing the filter is located in. Move the levers on the side of the black casing. You can now pull out the old filter and insert the new one. You can now close the casing the filter comes in and reinstall the glove box. That's all You need to do.
