The firSTStep to change a headlight bulb in a 2017 Ford Explorer You will start by opening the hood to gain access to the bulb. With a Torx T20 star bit screwdriver, remove the single screw on the access panel by turning it clockwise against. Turn the dust cap 1/4 in clockwise direction, and pull it straight out. Release tab on the black plastic power connector, and pull the plug straight off the base of the low beam bulb. Take the old bulb out and put new bulb in its place. The proper heglight bulbs are listed aS9005 or the H11 and the price will range from $15 - $35 depending o the brand and quality of the product.

The 2017 has an LED lightbulb that cannot be replaced without replacing the entire headlight unit. Ford charges around 1500 dollars to do it. There is one video on youtube showing you how to remove the seal on the headlight unit with a heat gun, replace the LED, and then reseal it, but it is extremely complicated for the average person and very time consuming
