In order to reset the security or anti theft system for Your Toyota Highlander You will first need to put the key in to the ignition and move it in do the start position. Next attempt to start the engine and then move it back to the start position. Let it sit there for 5 to 10 minutes and eventually the theft light will go away. Lastly move the key to the off position for a moment. The anti theft system will now be disabled and You will be able to use Your vehicle again like normal.

We have an 07 Highlander, it has had problems starting. New battery, New alternator, unhooked the battery in the proper order. We tried everything to get it to start.. It wouldn't crank!! All the lights worked and the door alarm would go off and come back on, then time out. Long story short, without a chance of someone stealing this 💩of a car, we fixed it..... Behind the glovebox is a black box stuffed off to the side. UNPLUG IT! That's all!! Car starts and runs fine.

To reset the security system you will turn the ignition key and switch it on, then attempt to start the engine (crank over), the engine will not run. Hang 10 minutes with the key still in the run spot and the safety light will flash and then go out. Switch off the switch, and hang for 5 seconds.
