Resetting the engine light on the Chevrolet Cruze is very easy to do. It will only take about 4 to 8 minutes of Your time. The first thing You will need to do is go to the driver's side of You vehicle, open the door, and climb inside. Next, take a look at Your dashboard. If You've fixed the basic cause of the light illuminating, such as a loose gas cap, You can simply put the key in the ignition, and crank the engine. Once Your vehicle has started, turn it back off. Now, repeat turning Your car engine on and off two more times. This will be for a total of 3 cranks and turn offs in a short succession. The engine light should now be off.
It did not work for me, but I found out what does work. HOLD THE RESET BUTTON IN ON THE END OF THE LEFT CONTROL ARM WHILE TURNING THE IGNITION KEY FROM OFF TO ON 3 TIMES (NOT STARTING ENGINE)

It actually works, I had the check engine light on due to a throttle body issue because of a snow storm and as when I turned the car off then on 3 times the light turned off. You will need to open the door and fully remove the key each time for it to work though.

Played with my mechanics P P until it made him happy.
It actually worked!! Mine is a 6-peed manual transmission. Pushed clutch to the floor (had it in 3rd gear), started engine, shut off, took key out completely, released clutch, opened and closed door. Wash, rinse, repeat but I did it four or five times for good measure.
