If You are dealing with a frozen screen on Your Chevy Volt the first thing You will want to try is to turn the vehicle off for several minutes and let it sit. If this does not reactivate Your screen You can try disconnecting the battery and leaving it off for 10 minutes before returning. This will allow the system to flush it's memory and if that was the cause of the issue then it should be fine after reconnecting the battery. If neither of these methods work then You likely have a dead screen and will need to replace the screen. A replacement screen can cost You anywhere between $300 and $500 not including the labor costs if You need to have it installed for You.

Remember, the Volt isn't a car, it's a computer with wheels so when anything goes wrong don't think like a mechanic, think like a computer. When my 2014 Volt center console went out, I just parked and waited 20 minutes for all the automatic functions to go off. When i started the Volt back up, the computer rebooted and everything worked again.

I had a black infotainment screen. Just pop off the fuse box and pull all of the fuses related to the infotainment (or display if display went black too) and plug them back in. It fixed the issue and it works fine. FYI, even though I had a black infotainment screen, my back up camera still worked so I knew that the screen wasn't bad.
