The passlock theft system in Your 2004 Chevy Colorado is designed to help prevent the vehicle from being stolen. However, there are times You will need to override it. If the Theft Sys light is on in Your vehicle, You won't be able to start it without resetting it. Turn the key in the ignition to try to start the vehicle. It won't start, so turn the key back one spot to the On position. The lights on the dashboard and the radio should work with the key in this position. Simply leave the key in the ignition like this for about 10 to 15 minutes. The Theft Sys light should stop blinking and remain solid at this point. As soon as You notice the light is solid, start the vehicle immediately. The passlock system should be reset. If not, You can start over again with the steps. If it doesn't reset in three tries, there may be something else wrong with it that needs to be looked at.
