The oil light in Your Chevy Silverado 1500 series is used to remind You to change Your oil. Usually a mechanic or dealership will reset this light after they have completed Your oil change. In the even that they did not, or You are changing Your oil Yourself You will need to reset the light as well. Resetting the oil light is very easy in Your Chevy. All You have to do is put the vehicle in the on position with the engine not running and then press Your gas pedal to the floor three times within five seconds. The oil change light on the dash should flash three times and then it will turn off indicating that it has been reset.
