I understand You want to reset the immobilizer on Your 2002 Dodge Dakota... Is that correct If so, here's how. First, exit the Dakota and make sure all the doors are closed and the windows are rolled up, as well as closing the front hood and rear hatch/trunk. Lock the car using the driver's side lock, with Your mechanical key, and walk away from the car at least ten feet, and then wait fifteen minutes. Come back to the car, and physically unlock the door (again, not using the FOB, using the mechanical key). This should often reset the security system. If You accidentally activated the immobilizer using the panic button on Your key FOB, on the other hand, that's really simple: Just hold the panic button in for 5 seconds to reset it, then.

To reset the alarm on the 2002 dodge dakota you need to lock all the doors, then unlock the driver side and put the key into the on position. Now turn it off and then back on twice and it will reset.

My #2 cylinder lost compression so I started the process of an engine swap and that requires removal of the hood. I ended up needing my garage for another vehicle repair after removing the hood so I pushed the dodge out by hand. After finishing the second vehicle and wanting to put the dodge back in my garage, I went to start it up and it set off the alarm and would not start but just a couple of seconds. After trying the solutions online with no success I was about to stick a fork in it and just haul it to the scrap yard but I tried something of my own one last time. This is a 2002 Dodge Dakota quad cab by the way. First, I put the hood back on and then disconnected the horn. It was driving me insane. Second, I Iocked all the doors except the driver door but shut the driver door. After I shut the driver door and Iocked it by inserting the original dodge key and then I unlocked it. The lights stopped flashing so I put the key in the ignition and surprisingly it started right up and there'snot been another issue thus far. It may have been pure luck but I hope this helps someone.
