Resetting the oil life light in Your 2005 Ford Freestyle is a simple process that takes only a few minutes. This needs to be done after the maintenance work has been completed. To begin, turn the key in the ignition to ON, but don't start up the engine. Locate the SETUP button, which is located in the left cluster of controls on the steering wheel. It is between the RESET and INFO buttons. Press SETUP repeatedly until PRESSRESET TO SYSTEM CHECK is displayed. PreSSRESET and hold until OIL LIFE XX% HOLD RESET NEW is displayed. Press the RESET button again, and hold until the display shows IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET. Press the same button and hold until You see OIL LIFE SET TO 100%. The light should turn off at this point. Turn the ignition off and then start the vehicle to make sure the reset has been saved and the light has remained off.

On the 2005 ford freestyle select "setup" you will then see "system check." Press "reset" you will receive the message "oil life remaining xx%" hold the reset button until you see "if new oil hold reset" is displayed.
