If You don't address the reason the check engine light (CEL) has come on in the first place on Your 2000 Toyota Camry, it's likely just going to come right back on. The typical methods of resetting this, beyond fixing the reason for it, is to clear it with a scan tool, disconnect the battery, or just pull the fuse for the engine control module. (ECM). We'll do the latter today. Locate the fuse panel cover under Your steering column and pull down on it with Your fingers to remove it, and then locate the ECM fuse and pull that out as well. Put the key into Your ignition and turn on the car, but don't turn on the engine. Wait a few minutes and then go ahead and put the ECM fuse back in; You should see the CEL blink a few times and then go off. At this point, You can turn off Your engine and snap the fuse panel cover back into place.
