The oil light in Your 2006 Ford F-150 is there to let You know when it is time to perform an oil change, but in order for it to do this properly, You have to reset it once the work is done. If You have the dealer or another authorized service center do the work, they will reset the light for You. If You do all Your own work though, You will need to follow these steps to reset it. First You will need to turn on the ignition but do not start the engine. From there You need to press the Setup button until the display shows the current oil life percentage. FroAfter that You will need to press and hold the Reset button until the display reads Oil Life 100%. Once You have done that You can turn the ignition off and then restart the vehicle to verify everything worked as it should.

For a 2006 model ford f-150 truck, start by turning the key in the ignition, then push the select/release button on the dash to see the "oil reset" readout. Holding down the button for a few seconds and then releasing will reset your oil life to 100-percent.
