Limp mode on a Subaru vehicle is an engine control module (ECU) controlled failsafe that prevents damage to the transmission, engine, and driver when a serious fault is detected. If You feel that Your vehicle has entered limp mode in error, You should pull over to a safe place and put Your Subaru in park. Turn off the ignition, and wait at least one full minute. Restart Your vehicle. This should be enough to reset limp mode if able. However, if the mode persists, this indicates a serious malfunction which must be fixed before the ECU will allow You to exit limp mode. Check the Subaru with a scan tool and see if You're receiving any codes. Unfortunately, there's no way (short of reflashing the ECU -- NOT RECOMMENDED) to exit limp mode while the fault persists.

To reset limp mode in a Subaru, stop the car and shift into park. Turn off the ignition. After 10 seconds, start the engine again and shift into first. If the transmission is still stuck, it needs to be serviced.

I am disconnecting the positive terminal right now, and leaving the car off of connect for 5 min. After 5 min the limp mode has turned off all light down hill assist and traction control and check engine light are off.
