To switch off the anti-theft deterrent alarm in the Chevy Cruze turn the correct key in the driver's door to unlock the vehicle or alternatively, press the unlock button on the transmitter. If the alarm has been triggered the exterior lamps will flash and the horn will sound for 30 seconds until the transmitter has been pushed. When exiting, activate the system by pressing the power door lock switch on the driver's side or the transmitter's "unlock" button. The alarm should take around 30 seconds to engage. To activate it immediately, press the fob again. The Cruze's owner's manual describes the anti-theft as a "passive theft-deterrent system" that does not need to be manually engaged. It is automatically active when the vehicle is turned off.

The unlock button on the remote key is used to deactivate the anti-theft system. Use the key to unlock the driver door, and then change the ignition switch to the spot on. If this does not work, exit the vehicle and roll all windows, then use the key to lock the door of the driver.
