To progRam a VW Passat key fob first insert the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine. Leave the car closing the door behind You. Using a second key, lock the door leaving the key in the keyhole. With the ignition key, press the unlock button on the fob. This process should generally work for the B6 model and older. You will otherwise have to have Your fob progRammed by Your local VW dealer. Pricing varies but the estimated cost for the new key, fob, and progRamming process is around $300.

To program a vw passat key fob put the key into the ignition, put it to the first click, close all the doors, lock the driver's door with a second key, then press unlock button on the key fob you are programming.
