The Toyota Echo should last over 200,000 miles with proper care and maintenance. The most important thing You can do to help Your car last a long time is do the scheduled maintenance. Simple things like changing Your oil and other fluids help protect the components in Your engine and transmission which will help them last longer. Takeng Your car in for regular servicing is also a good opportunity to allow a mechanic to inspect Your car and make sure that it is in good condition. It is a lot easier to repair small problems as they pop up compared to doing big service jobs when more things break.

Dec 1, 2020 and my 2003 Echo about to pass 400000km. Have never had a major problem with it. Starting to show some minor rust spots near the bottom corner of the front shoulder panel, but that’s it. Light car with great mileage, great sight lines and can fit in the narrowest of parking spaces. Hope to have it on the road for another 5-10 years.

All you need to do is use high mileage engine and it will consume less oil

I drive pizza and have had five Echos. One of the problems the Echo has is a condition that's been referred to as "Lazy Rings." It will consume copious amounts of oil but it doesn't hurt the car, just don't run it out or that will. Each Car I've owned I drove over 370k and they usually die from failed automatic transmission; starts slipping.

My 2004, 4-door echo has run so far 593,000 kilometers and still going strong. No engine leaks and no history of transmission issues. Although, I do need to feed it a quart of oil monthly, depending on how many kilometers I put on it.

My “Baby” is still purring with Only 260,000 miles. If the Japanese made their Zeros in WW2 like they make these Echos….we’d be speaking Japanese 😎

My parents had a 2003 toyota echo, and it lasted 280,000 miles. However, we had to replace the transmission twice, and toward the end of its life, it stalled in the winter when there was road salt on the roads.

My gf has one and it has almost 315k on it it consumes roughly one quart of oil every 200 miles Ibelieve it may need rings on cyl one but it hasn't quit or failedto be a reliable vehicle however we keep a close eye on the oil.

Just hit 360,000, getting more than 18kms per litre on premium fuel. Had it for five years and I thrash the engine a fair bit. Zero problems.

My 2003 four door Toyota Silver Echo Sedan is the best little car in the world. It has only 43,000 kilometres on the clock. Hard to believe I know. The only money I’ve spent on it apart from regular services is yo replace windscreen wipers once and good quality tires when advised. I’ve never had an accident in this vehicle, immaculate both interior and exterior. I will never sell it, it will see me through.

My 2002, 4-door Echo has run so far 179100 miles. It runs great without any oil leak or transmission issues. Oil consumption is the only issue I am experiencing. I have to top up oil every other week, especially driving it 80 miles on highway daily.

I have a Toyota Echo 2002 and it has a little over 213k but it now burns oil and needs to be added after 1500 miles. Last time the oil light came on intermittently and I had 3/4 quart left after driving it 2,000 miles since a full oil change.
