The clutch on a Ford Focus is similar to brake pads. They do wear down over time, but that time could vary drastically depending on how You use it. Usually the clutch should be able to last 20,000 miles to 100,000 miles depending on how You drive. If You are heavy on the clutch and driving around town or in stop and go traffic a lot You will wear out Your clutch faster than if You drove highways. The clutch disc wears every time that You engage Your clutch pedal as it comes into contact with the flywheel. I would recommend checking Your clutch annually to make sure that there is still enough material on Your clutch plate.

I am disgusted with the lack of reliability of my 2015 Ford Focus. Recalls taken care of, has been in the shop awaiting the transmission computer chip (?) that’s fine but oops, now you need a new clutch assembly $2600. Wait, that was taken care of less than 3 years ago, a recall. Yea, it happens… Here’s your 3 choices, fix it, trade it or come get it. I WILL NEVER recommend a Ford to anyone!
