When replacing the TCM in a 2012 Ford Focus the price will vary but You can expect to pay about $400 to $700 with the majority of that cost being the labor. This is an extensive job that requires a lot of labor and because of that, it will be expensive. The TCM is located inside the gearbox of the transmission and will need t remove the transmission oil pan to gain access to the sensor. Some of the symptoms and signs of a faulty transmission control module are check engine light on, shifting at too low or too high RPM, issues shifting to higher gears, and the vehicle not wanting to downshift. If You have any of these symptoms with the transmission of the vehicle take it to an auto service shop because it is unsafe and can cause a wreck when driving a car with a bad TCM.

Ryan is incorrect. The TCM on the DPS6 transmission is bolted to the side of the transmission by four bolts. It's located below the air cleaner and has two large wiring harnesses plugged into it. There's two geared motors that pass through the transmission housing and are sealed by o-rings. The hardest part may beunplugging the harnesses without damaging them but not that difficult if you know how the work. I've seen new and or remanufactured tcms go for $250- $500. I've got no clue on the labor cost but it's fairly simple. However I've heard you may need to reprogram it. This you probably will need a dealer to do. I've swapped out junkyard ones but they haven't lasted very long.
