The 2000 Chevy Silverado uses different amounts of freon depending on whether or not You have dual zone climate control. If You have just front A/C then it uses 29 ounces, if You have rear AC as ell then it needS48 ounces of freon. In general I recommend letting a professional handle freon in Your truck. Using a refill can is inaccurate and the only real way to recharge an A/C system is to use a freon exchange tool. This will drain the lines then refill it the proper amount. Also be sure to inspect the freon lines for any damage that could be causing it to leak and become less effective.

The 2000 Chevy Silverado has 29 ounces of freon if it only has front A.C. And it has 48 ounces of freon with both the front and rear A.C.
