For the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban with the 5.3 L V8 and the 6.0 L V8 it has an oil capacity of 6 quarts with a filter and the 8.1 L V8 engine iS6.4 quarts with a filter. The recommended type to use in all versions is SAE 5W-30 Synthetic in all temperatures. The 5.3 L V8 and 6.0 L V8 both have a torque of 18 ft/lbs for the drain plug and the 8.1 L V8 engine has a torque of 21 ft/lbs. It is really important to use oil because it will help to keep the engine clean and running better. You should change the oil and the filter every 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.

5 quarts for the engine, plus the filter so you will need 6 and will have a little left over

6 quarts, when doing an oil change. Be sure to change the filter as well.
